Just a short ride from Providenciales airport, we’re greeted with a refreshing local beer and glass of champagne on arrival at COMO Parrot Cay’s marina. Sun beaming through tropical rain clouds, the serene boat ride to this island paradise sets the mood for the magic that awaits us.
Parrot Cay has a wonderful sense of calm, a feeling of total isolation and tranquillity — a world away from reality. Tucked away on a private island, it has become an oasis for jet-setters, chill-seekers and a part-time residence for the likes of Keith Richards.
Surrounded by sweeping sands and peaceful seas, the hotel grounds are lush, green and immaculately maintained. We jump on a golf cart and make our way down the dusty palm lined pathways to our suite. The airy rooms feature sumptuous four-poster beds, teak details, white cotton fabrics and contemporary furnishings; the whitewashed main building is simple with British colonial touches and 180-degree views of the ocean.
