Wine takes centre stage in Santorini, the volcanic soil and humid climates are the perfect setting for a rich, fragrant and aromatic harvest. We spent many wonderful evenings admiring the picturesque views as the sun dipped into the sea, conversing and laughing with a glass of local white wine in hand. Made from Assyrtiko, one of the finest white grape varieties in Europe; the wines of Santorini are nothing short of astonishing, both for their modest existence, as well as for their taste, quality and price. Vin Santo is of course the showstopper, most evenings on the island wouldn’t be complete without a sweet toast to compliment your meal and set you on your way.
